Where to find your ESI ID
On your electric bill. Look near your service address for "ESI ID," "ESID" or "Electric Service Identifier."
In your provider's app or website. Most providers list it in account details or on each bill PDF.
From your provider or utility. Moving into a new home? Any retail provider can find the ESI ID from your service address when you sign up.
Outside the competitive market, in cities like Austin, San Antonio, El Paso and most co-op areas, there's no ESI ID to shop with: your city utility or co-op is your only provider.
How to read an ESI ID
The first seven digits identify the utility that owns your meter. The rest identify the meter itself. That's why providers ask for it: it tells them which delivery charges apply to your address.
Your ESI ID never changes when you switch providers. It belongs to the meter, not to you.
